Gary Jones Motorsport

I'd like to give a special thanks to Gary Jones Motorsport. Gary knows how to make a race car work. It doesn't matter if you are racing in vintage, Grand-Am, or IMSA. He can win a championship.
He currently has won three Rolex Championship watches. He doesn't do it himself; he has two brilliant engineers (Todd and Gene) who do most of the work.
I doubt most of the people that he helps would still be racing without his help. His shop is in Augusta, GA. Call him at 706-592-0060.
I owe a special gratitude to Gary and his staff as well as Jerry, Dickson, David, Jeff, Tom, Byron, Bob, Bill, the guys at Predator Racing, and the guys at Cobra Automotive. You'll never meet a better bunch of people.
And no one runs more reliable or faster.

2007 Mustang GT (torch red)

I've owned fourteen Mustangs. The first Mustang that I owned had 125,000 miles on it before I bought it. It was the car that allowed me transportation through college (UGA, Go Dawgs).

A friend actually ordered this car from a dealer in Augusta, GA. I later saw the car and asked him to call me if he ever wanted to sell it. He called me three years before I thought the car would be available.

I love the UGA torch red exterior. In fact, I painted my 1965 race car the same color. I liked the way he ordered it with the Bullitt wheels, interior upgrade package with the charcoal aluminum panel, and the optional 3:55 limited slip axle.

This is the car that I travel in with my wife. It's very comfortable and produces good gas mileage. It even has a large trunk.

2002 Corvette Z06

This is an unique car. It doesn't have the personality of my Porsche. Nonetheless, the Porsche doesn't have A/C. Chevrolet produces an excellent air conditioning system. In GA, on an August day, that is important.
This car produces 405 horsepower through its 6-speed transmission. The car has a wonderful front-to-rear weight ratio to make it perfectly balanced. The stock suspension and brakes are excellent for the driving duty that it does (to the grocery store and a few north Georgia mountain drives).
I bought the car used from a nice policeman that needed a larger car. It was in perfect condition. Since my purchase in 2004, I have done nothing but change the oil and replace the tires.

1994 Mustang Cobra

I ordered this car in 1993 from Ford. I drove it from the dealer to the shop to install a rollbar. I did a few suspension upgrades and then basically drove this car on a race track to learn what in the world I was supposed to do.
It now has 49,000 miles on the car, and it still runs as good as new. My logbook shows that it has had 12 different sets of tires (all four) and another 15 sets of brakes pads. The radio (and cassette player) still works. The A/C still blows cold air.

1965 Ford Mustang FIA road race car

This car had a humble beginning. It belonged to a fireman that drove it to the firehouse every day. It soon found another life.
The car was disassembled and most of the stock interior was thrown away. A full roll cage was installed. A racing seat was bolted to the cage. A switch box was installed to control the fuel, ignition, and wipers. A tach, water temperature, oil pressure, and oil pressure gauge was added.
The engine was rebuilt to racing specifications. A Forged crankshaft and connecting rods were sourced. A racing oil pan was added. The valve train was completely rebuilt. The original toploader 4-speed transmission was rebuilt, a new stock clutch and pressure plate were added. The rear differential was modified with a panhard bar and spool assembly. A Monte Carlo bar and Import brace were added.
The front suspension was rebuilt with new parts. The Shelby drop was added with Koni shocks. A new set of Shelby Kelsey-Hayes front disc brakes were added along with racing pads. The rear suspension received a new set of leaf springs with a one inch drop. Koni shocks were added. The rear brakes remain stock.
I purchased ten Torque-Trust D 15" X 7" wheels. I race with Hossier TD or Goodyear tires.
The car attended its first race at the HSR Walter Mitty in 1997.
Since that time, the car has competed in over 66 races while winning 46 podium finishes. It loves to race at Road Atlanta, Sebring, VIR, Watkins Glen, Mid-Ohio, and Road America.

1973 Porsche 911 2.7L 5-speed

This is my dream car. I've always wanted to own a Porsche 911. This car is a 1973 Porsche 911 coupe with a few modifications. The car was originally a PCA car in FL. The original 2.4L T engine had a problem with a connecting rod. A 1973 911S engine was sourced and built to a 2.7L displacement. The car received widened steel rear fenders and a fiberglass ducktail. A RSR front valance was installed with an oil cooler.
The interior was changed with OEM seats and a rollbar. It has the correct lightweight parts as does the 1973 Carrera RS "Touring" car.
The entire suspension was rebuilt with new parts including wider rollbars and 911S brakes.
